A lover of many things, a doer of a few.
When I create, it's with intention, distinction, and care.
When I strategize, it's with the user and the business in the same room.

Made with
intention.
I'm Kat Childs — a UX strategist, designer, and researcher based in Harrisburg, PA with 8+ years of experience across UX strategy, interaction design, user research, and product management.
My career has never fit neatly into one box, and I've stopped trying to make it. I started as a designer who asked too many research questions. Then I became a researcher who couldn't stop thinking about the product. Now I'm a strategist who brings all three to the table — and knows when to use each one.
I've led design teams, shipped client work across industries, co-founded a publication, and built a product from zero. I bring all of it to every room I'm in.
When I'm not working, I'm reading, creating, raising my son and daughter, and building crazy things with my husband.
AI hasn't changed what good design requires.
It's changed how fast I get there.
I integrate AI at the moments where speed protects thinking — rapid prototyping before Figma, research synthesis before sense-making, generative exploration before committing to a direction.
The judgment about what to keep, what to kill, and what it means for users is still entirely human work. That's the part I'm here for.
Say hello.
I'm currently open to full-time roles and freelance opportunities in UX strategy, UX design, product design, design leadership, and product management. If something you're building needs someone who creates with intention — let's talk.
